About Me

Hi, and welcome to quiltersstash!  My name is Tara McInerney, and I am a Speech-Language Pathologist and mother of three, who started quilting at the age of 16.  I was inspired to try quilting by the work of my husband’s mother and grandmother, who specialized in the production of fantastic hand–pieced and quilted hexagon quilts.  After something of a hiatus between 2002 to 2013, only a month after returning to work after my  third son’s parental leave ended, I happened upon a huge quilt show, put on by the Canadian Quilters’ Association (CQA) that was being displayed at Brock University.

My passion was ignited and I delved into new territory, including improv quilting and modern quilting. I sewed on the dining room table but quickly outgrew my digs, and my husband, Kirk was quick to facilitate the repurposing of our spare bedroom into a space just for me.

Now I can’t imagine how I would function without my own beautiful Sacred Sewing Space and my Baby Lock, Liz.

My golden doodle, aptly named ‘Stash’ often keeps me company when I’m whipping up projects. I couldn’t help but include him in my blog.’

I love quilts and everything quilty, and I also happen to be an oversharer.  What better combination than to start a quilt blog?

Thanks for visiting quiltersstash!  I love comments and look forward to getting to know you!😊
